Our glass tube upgrade kits include everything you need to perform the upgrade yourself. We include detailed instructions, telephone and email support. For the components, we have sheet metal extenders for your machine, to enclose the longer tube. And, of course, all the parts including laser, power supply, larger chiller, and more. And, you can trade-in used parts for a discount.
Add power to your laser engraver and cutter. With a higher power glass tube, your laser cutter can cut thicker material. In some cases, it can cut thin metals.
A laser machinery owner is cutting thin plywood and his cut quality is low. The slow speed of his 60 watt CO2 laser during cutting made a significant burn back into the side walls during the laser cutting process. We upgraded him to a 95 watt laser. The components included the laser tube, a power supply, and a larger chiller, and a painted sheet metal extension for his enclosure. We provided telephone and email support. He performed the installation.
Please provide the following information:
What laser power you would like or are considering for your laser machine.
1. Laser Machine make and model and year of purchase
2. Laser power
3. Chiller make and model
Above: A true 150 watt CO2 laser. Peak power 185 watts.
Below: Oxygen cutting (for thin metals) requires a separate hose rated for oxygen and oxygen safety apparatus mounted nearby (back of the laser machine).
I am considering the purchase of a Vytek FX 3651. The machine is 13 years old and running windows 98 on the control computer. The 50W ULS laser is depleted.
1) Is it possible to upgrade the control system while retaining the 60in/sec engraving speed and the servo motors?
2) How much to refurbish the laser?
3) How much to upgrade to 100W glass laser?
4) How much is the 50W ULS tube worth in exchange against 1 and 3?
Answer:
We can refill the ULS 50 watt laser for $XXX. You can upgrade to a 100 watt glass laser with power supply and chiller, with trade-in for $YYY. If you are planning to do a lot of engraving, as is needed for 60 ips) then I would recommend sticking with the ULS laser because:1. The glass tube has an internal high voltage electrode that will be consumed quickly at that speed. In other words, you will be purchasing a replacement tube in six months or so.2. The glass tube provides inferior engraving, though good cutting. Best glass tube lasers for engraving are the 40 and 60 watt. Higher powers are not so good.3. The glass tube high voltage power supply cannot keep up with 60 ips, and the Radio Frequency power supply of the ULS tube can handle it. The specs on the high voltage power supply identify the maximum rate to turn on/off. If you do the math, 60 inches per second x 300 dots per inch then you exceeded it.
Do you really need 60 ips? If so, stick with the ULS. Most times the material is the limiting factor in speed, and though 60 ips sounds nice, it may not be used that often.
